Acro

Acro dance incorporates acrobatic elements, such as front and back walkovers, aerials, handsprings, front and back tucks, etc. with dance elements. The key is to make sure that stunts compliment the dance rather than distracting from it.  One of the benefits of acrobatic training is the chance to improve dance skill and athletic ability.  Each dancers technique will excel as they develop core strength, flexibility, balance, and control.

Ballet

Ballet is the core of all types of dance.  It is a classical dance form demanding grace and precision and employing formalized steps and gestures set in intricate, flowing patterns to create expression through movement.  Not only will dancers learn the correct forms and movements associated with ballet, they will also learn the proper ballet terminology.

Contemporary

Contemporary is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modernjazzlyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements.  Contemporary stresses versatility and improvisation, unlike the strict, structured nature of ballet. Contemporary dancers focus on floor work, using gravity to pull them down to the floor. This dance genre is often done in bare feet. Contemporary dance can be performed to many different styles of music.

Hip Hop

Hip-hop dance is a vibrant form of dance that combines a variety of freestyle movements to create a cultural piece of art. Through its three main styles of popping, locking, and breaking, hip-hop dance has evolved into one of the most popular and influential styles of dance.

Hip2Flip

This is an hour long combination class.  The hip portion is just that, its Hip Hop.  Dancers will be taught all the moves they see on TV, Youtube, TikTok, etc.  The flip portion is acro.  Dancers will take to the mats where they will learn the basics in acrobatics.  This includes rolls, cartwheels, back handsprings, aerials, etc.  As they master one trick, they will move onto the next one.  This is the perfect class for those undecided if they want to take hip hop or acro.  Here they get both.

Jazz

Jazz is a form of modern dance which is heavily influenced by the sounds, rhythms, and techniques of jazz music.  This type of dance is highly individual, with an emphasis on showcasing individual skills.  Dancers will learn specific jazz movements, such as isolations, turns, and floor work.  During class, dancers will also learn a dance combination, which is a combination of dance movements put together in a specific sequence.

Lyrical

Lyrical is the personal expression of the choreographer to music with lyrics that expresses a strong emotional interpretation of the chosen song. Dancers use their bodies as well as facial movements to express the emotions of the lyrics. The style of Lyrical focuses on the individuals in the piece as well as the precision of the dancer’s sharp and often fluid movements.

Lyrical has been said to be a fusion of ballet, jazz, and contemporary styles of dance. Although a dancer does not necessarily have to have a ballet dancers’ build or physique for Lyrical, Lyrical dancers can benefit from a high degree of flexibility, technique, and strength to perform more complicated lyrical pieces.

Tap

Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion. Two major variations on tap dance exist: rhythm (jazz) tap and Broadway tap. Broadway tap focuses on dance; it is widely performed in musical theater. Rhythm tap focuses on musicality, and practitioners consider themselves to be a part of the jazz tradition. The sounds are made by shoes that have a metal "tap" on the heel and toe.

Technique

Technique is one of the key elements of the dancer in training.  It embodies the fundamentals and skills to develop in order to do the correct movements. The class focuses on the following areas:  stretching, flexibility, conditioning, leaps, and turns.  Dancers utilize a variety of apparatuses, such as stretch bands, yoga blocks, and turning boards, to refine their skills.
